Lip Balm Recipe

Making lip balm can be simple! Try this easy DIY lip balm that is moisturising and healthy for your lips.

30 grams beeswax

30 grams coconut oil

40 grams shea butter

15 grams cocoa butter

20 drops Peppermint oil

5 drops Lavender oil

5 drops of Frankincense

Lip Balm Ingredients
All ingredients for your lip balm, simply melt down

  • Line up empty containers. If using a lip balm stick, make sure it has been twisted down.
  • Put one drop of your preferred essential oil into empty containers. I like to use Green Mandarin
  • Add all ingredients except essential oils to glass bowl or glass pyrex jug. – place bowl on a pot of gently simmering water and stir frequently – this is called the double boiler method.  Once melted remove from heat.
  • Add essential oils and mix until combined.
  • Transfer into containers of choice.
  • Place into the fridge or freezer to set
Lip Balm Recipe
Enough to last the whole year

  1. Add all ingredients except essential oils to bowl and melt: 4-5 minutes, 75˚C, speed 0.5. Extend time if required, until ingredients have completely melted.
  2. Add essential oils and mix for 5-10 seconds on low speed until combined.
  3. Transfer into containers of choice.
  4. Place into the fridge or freezer to set

Tip: If you want a harder lip balm, add an additional or 15 grams of beeswax. For an even softer lip balm, add an additional 15 grams of coconut oil

This lip balm makes a great gift and can easily be customised. Change the colour or the scent by using a variety of mineral makeup and essential oils.

This recipe makes about 100 grams of lip balm so make sure you have enough containers (I use aluminium pots that hold 15g each. Some of the lip balm liquid will stay in the pot you make it, its impossible to get it all out)
